Though clearly a must have green in the 18th century the many suppliers who listed it did not always agree on the recipe. Most used green verditer rendering quite a blue green but others added varying yellows bringing it closer to the colour we associate with the vegetable. I have adopted this fresher hue – the type that brings the joy of the garden indoors. It is a great background for artwork, from pictures to textiles.
